Garmin Fenix Update

Garmin has recently unveiled beta version 18.11 for its high-end smartwatch lineup, including the Fenix 7 série, Epix Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, e MARQ Gen 2. Positioned as a bug-fixing update, it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, versão 18.10. While both iterations claim to iron out creases in the wearable’s operation, user feedback paints a different picture.

Bug Fixes and New Issues

The latest beta addresses two primary issues: an erratic activity course display on Garmin Connect and unexpected shutdowns triggered by accessing the Garmin Coach glance. These join the bug fixes introduced in version 18.10, which tackled shutdown problems linked to Daily Suggested Workouts and outdoor map layer adjustments. Additionally, a previously unlisted fix in versions 18.10 e 18.11 appears to have resolved a missing CPE issue that originated with beta 18.09.

However, the digital landscape is often a double-edged sword. Despite these improvements, users have reported fresh troubles with the new updates. Two separate accounts detail the disappearance of Daily Suggested Workouts from the calendar, and the persistent headache of unreliable headphone connectivity remains unresolved.

A Gradual Rollout

Garmin has confirmed a phased release of beta version 18.11, with only 10% of eligible users receiving the update initially. The company has yet to provide a timeline for the full rollout. For those keen to participate in the beta program, enrollment is accessible through Garmin Connect.

While the beta channel offers users a chance to contribute to the refinement of Garmin’s software, it’s essential to remember that these versions might contain unforeseen instabilities. Users should weigh the potential benefits against the risk of encountering new issues before opting in.

Change log for version?18.11 since v18.10 (last public beta):

  • Fixed issue that could cause Connect to fail to display which course was used for activity.
  • Fixed potential shutdown when opening the Garmin Coach glance.

As the beta program progresses, it will be interesting to see if Garmin can effectively address the reported problems and deliver a more polished user experience in future stable releases.
