A recent leak has provided a wealth of information about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 9. According to the leak, the fitness tracker will feature numerous improvements, including a longer battery life, a brighter AMOLED display, and more accurate tracking capabilities.
Annual Update Tradition Continues
It’s almost certain that Xiaomi will release a new fitness tracker this year. Historically, Xiaomi has updated its Smart Band annually. Earlier this year, the Xiaomi Mi Band 9 was hinted at as the successor to the current Smart Band 8, which is available for €29 on Amazon.
Design and Build
According to the latest leak from XM.cz, the Xiaomi Mi Band 9 will maintain a similar design to the eighth generation, featuring an oval shape. The casing will be made from an aluminum alloy with a sandblasted finish. The dimensions are reported to be 46.53 x 21.63 x 10.95 mm, and the weight, including the band, will be 27.4 grams. The band is expected to be available in five color options.
Display Enhancements
The leak suggests that the oval AMOLED display will remain at 1.62 inches with a resolution of 192 x 490 pixels. While the refresh rate will stay at 60 Hz, the brightness is expected to increase from 600 nits to 1,200 nits, making the screen significantly more readable in sunlight.
Improved Battery Life
The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 is rumored to have a longer battery life compared to its predecessor. The battery capacity is expected to increase by 43 mAh, bringing it to 233 mAh. This could provide up to 21 days of battery life with “normal” usage. With the Always on Display (AoD) feature activated, the battery life could last up to 9 days on a single charge. The charging time is reported to be around one hour.
Upgraded Bluetooth and Sensors
The Bluetooth version is expected to jump from Bluetooth 5.1 to Bluetooth 5.4. The heart rate and SpO2 sensors are said to be 10% more accurate than those in the previous version. The sleep tracking feature is also expected to receive a significant upgrade.
Additional Features
The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 is rumored to support more than 150 sports modes and have a water resistance rating of up to 5 ATM. Additionally, it will feature an improved vibration motor with 20 different modes.
Launch Date Unknown
While the leak provides detailed information about the features and improvements of the Xiaomi Smart Band 9, the official launch date remains unknown. However, we expect Xiaomi will launch the Mi Band 9 in late July or in early August.
