Garmin Fenix 8: Leak Confirms AMOLED Display, Suggests Price Increase and Cheaper Fenix E

0

The official Garmin Iceland online shop has already listed the Fenix 8, confirming the replacement of the energy-efficient MiP display with a modern AMOLED panel. For users who prefer the longer battery life and better sunlight visibility offered by the MiP display, Garmin plans to introduce the new Fenix E.

Pricing and Variants of the Garmin Fenix 8

About a week ago, the Garmin Fenix 8 was first spotted at a retailer, listed at prices ranging from 797 Euros to 1,095 Euros, depending on the variant. The smartwatch is available in three sizes: 43 mm, 47 mm, and 51 mm. Fitness Tracker Test has now found the smartwatch in the official Garmin Iceland online shop.

Price Comparison and Display Details

The website lists a 43-mm version of the Fenix 8 in silver for 179,000 Kr (approximately 1,200 Euros). This makes the smartwatch more expensive than the Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar, which is offered in Iceland for 172,900 Kr (approximately 1,159 Euros). It is unclear whether these prices are final. However, it is confirmed that the Fenix 8 features an AMOLED display, which offers significant improvements in color and contrast.

Impact of the New Display

The new AMOLED display provides a more vibrant and high-contrast image. However, such a display typically negatively affects battery life and visibility in direct sunlight. For customers who prefer the MiP display for these reasons, Garmin plans to introduce the Fenix E, which will still use the MiP display. This version is expected to be cheaper than the Fenix 8 and will be offered exclusively in a 47 mm case diameter.

Market Availability of the New Fenix Models

It is still unclear when the new Fenix models will officially hit the market. Since they have already been listed by several retailers, the launch is likely only a matter of days to weeks away.
